How Student Manager Works

After purchase, you will now be able to setup a Student Manager Dashboard on your Thinkific site

After purchasing Student Manager, you will see a short getting started video that will walk you through the basics of Student Manager and your Thinkific site will now include everything you need to create a Student Manager Dashboard for your student managers.

Student Manager License Bundles are set up

In this step, we will create what we are calling Student Manager License Bundles. These will use the standard Thinkific Bundle concept, but in a different way. The Student Manager Dashboard will only be accessible by Thinkific users who are enrolled in these special bundles. The configuration will also allow you to provide a defined number of students that the Student Group Manager is allowed to create.
About Student Manager License Bundles
✅ Uses the standard Thinkific Bundles product type to define the Student Group Manager role and associated student creation limits.
✅ Should be used specifically for enabling the Student Manager Dashboard, but can optionally include exclusive courses for your Student Group Managers.
✅ Can be configured to be purchased or marked as private where manual or external enrollment is used.

The Student Manager Dashboard is created

Now that you have created your Student Manager License Bundles, you are ready to create your Student Manager Dashboard.
You have two options for providing the Student Manager Dashboard to your users: 
Option 1: Dedicate Custom Page
In this option, you will have a dedicated page for your Student Managers to access. You may want to use this page to allow for you to add additional exclusive content for your Student Group Managers.
Option 2: Add to the Student Dashboard
When placing the Student Manager Dashboard on the standard Student Dashboard page, your Student Group Manager will see both the courses they are enrolled in and the Student Manager Dashboard.

Student Managers will be able to:

  • Add or import students
  • Delete students to free up spots
  • Enroll students in courses that the site admin granted permissions for
  • View student course progress and activity
  • Access activation links for students

Adding Student Managers

By now, you should have your Student Manager License Bundle(s) set up and your Student Manager Dashboard configured. The next step is to activate Student Manage for specific users.
📌 Note: The Student Manager Dashboard does not require use of Thinkific's Group Analysts feature/role. You can use these together to provide your Student Managers deeper insights and access to advanced analytics.
Ultimately a Thinkific user simply needs to be enrolled in at least one of your Student Manager License Bundles in order to access the Student Manager Dashboard
This can be accomplished in the following ways
➡️ Manually by a Site Admin: Simply head over to the Users / All Users page and manually enroll a user into the appropriate Student Manager License Bundle
➡️ Self-Enrollment by a Student Manager: If your bundle is set to public and free, then Student Managers can self-enroll into the bundle. If your bundle is set to public and has a non-free price, then a Student Manager can self-enroll by purchasing the bundle through the standard Thinkific checkout link. You can also provide a link to your Student Managers using the standard coupon code process. 
📌 Note: When using the self-enroll options, you may want to also configure the After Purchase Flow settings for the bundle so that the Student Manager Dashboard page is shown after enrollment.
➡️ Automation / API: If you are using Zapier, Make or have access to Thinkific's Admin API's, then you may have the ability to enroll Student Group Managers into the appropriate Student Manager License Bundle.

Configure the Student Manager Help Widget

When you Student Group Managers log in, we want them to fully understand how to use the Student Manager Dashboard and be able to self-help themselves without having to send you any support emails.
For that reason we have included a customizable Student Manager Dashboard Help Widget

Overview: How the Help Widget Works

There is a help icon located right next to the Student Manager Dashboard section heading. When configured properly, it will open a popup that con contain video, text and even buttons that can help guide your Student Managers or allow them to reach out to you for support.

Enabling the Student Manager Dashboard Help Widget

There are two portions of this configuration and leverages the Site Page Tenplates Popup capabilities
✅  On your Student Manager Dashboard page, add a new section and search for the Student Manager Help Popup. This section contains pre-built information that should be enough to help your Student Group Managers, but you may want to customize it.
✅ Optionally customize the Student Manager Help Popup section settings to change the video and text that is being used. You could also enable buttons that could be linked to other support pages or methods (i.e. Contact us)

Students are provided activation links

The Student Manager will be able to copy student activation links and then provide them to their students in any means they would like.

Once students use the activation link, they will be able to set their own password and then access any courses that the Student Group Manager enrolled them in.

The students will not need to enroll in any courses themselves.
